Avoid Common Mistakes with Article Marketing

Article marketing is widely acknowledged as being an efficient and powerful technique to generate targeted traffic. If done properly you will have a long, continuous stream of targeted visitors coming to your site. Although it is not an immediate process, in the long run it will build up a huge number of quality back links.

In this article, I will highlight a few points that will ensure that you make the most of article marketing.

Always make sure that there are no spelling mistakes

All Wordprocessing applications have a spell check facility. Even if you’ve spent hours writing it, an article full of errors and littered with spelling mistakes will look unprofessional, distract the reader from the content and will make you look “amateurish”.

One you have written the article, run a spell-check. Then after 10 minutes have elapsed, look at it again with a fresh pair of eyes. You will be surprised at the number of mistakes that you did not pickup the first the time you read it.

It should not be an advertisement of your products or services

DO NOT promote your website in the body of the article. This is a sure way to get you immediately suspended from the article directory.

Your article should not act as a sales pitch. It must not contain hyperlinks that will take the reader straight to your site. Also you should not “forcefully” direct the readers toward the resource box by using sentences like “For more information, see the end of the article”.

Poor quality content

The article body should contain unique, original and informative content. This is where you share your expertise about a given subject. Provide tips, techniques, commentary and/or other useful information to the reader.

Each article should be of interest to readers and have a unique content.

Uninspiring Resource Box

The resource box is a significant component of your article marketing strategy.

It is important that it provides enough information to grab the readers’ interest, in addition to a strong “call to action” that will prompt them to follow the hyperlinks to your site. It should read as a natural continuation of your article and also contain hyperlinks containing your keywords.

Regardless of how fantastic your article is, if your resource box isn’t interesting or convincing, you won’t obtain good results.

Not enough articles

To be effective you need to publish a significant number of articles. You should get into the practice of creating and publishing at least two articles per day.

But don’t inundate article directories sites with poorly written articles as this will be counterproductive. Remember “content is king”.
